Hi Alex. Hughie Boots and I go back a bit. He is married to a cousin of mine who is member of the aforementioned Dalton family. Stephen. (also a taxi driver)
Hi Alex. Glad to see you got me so quick despite being a bit cryptic. A pal of mine from the taxis pointed me in the direction of this site. He is very keen on local history and mentioned the site to me the other day. As soon as he mentioned Alex Glass I remembered conversations we had in the past. It seems to be an occupational hazard of being a Glasgow Taxi driver that after a while you become interested in the areas you drive through on a daily basis. I look forward to reading your posts regularly and becoming a bit more informed about the South Side. Regards, Stephen.
I am sure you will know much more than me Stephen.
I believe someone on here mentioned your taxi driver friend and was interested in encouraging him to sign up as he if a font of knowledge and was able to recall long lost stories of events in Glasgow.
If there is any particular area you are interested in Stephen just ask on here there are people from all over who have either photos or stories of most of Glasgow.
If you ever come across any old photos we would be interested to see them posted on here.
Keep posting _________________ I had a dream today
What a great site. Considines used to be a petrol station!?!? My Mum moved into Carnwadric Housing Scheme in 1932!? (page 13, bottom of Kiloran Street opposite the park gates which hadn"t been built yet) and recognised the house in Rouken Glen road immediately. (probably because it is across the road from the old 38/38A terminus.)Further studies of the maps will no doubt finally satisfy my curiosity about the old "Puggy" line that ran from Kennishead Road area to Thornliebank/Spiersbridge industrial area.
