The tram line is mentioned and there is a link to a simulator of the route along Nitshill Road down through Thornliebank.

Carnwadric must have a story to tell. Does anyone know it's history?

Stephen

I did some family history research and your granddad went to Southampton from Ireland before he met your Gran.

Hi Folks , been a while since I have posted anything. Found some old
pictures of the South Nitshill Gala days, from various parts of the scheme.
Although a few from Whitacres road where I stayed, hope you recognise some faces

Nice photos bissy
What year would that be ? Looks a lot later than when i live there.
I lived there from 1959 till 82 but my mum & Da stayed on till the early 90's.

Great photos Bissy
Hows this for a Past Present?  The 30+ years difference in camera angle is rather uncanny

Bissy and Jock

I know the year. It is the year in which my daughter was the Gala Queen. She is in the front seat of the car in picture 4. 1992

Thanks Alex
I though it would be a bit after my time, though all the scenes are instantly recognizable to me.

Hi All

Strange i just noticed the distinct geographical boundary between the old & new scheme, That never occurred to me when all the buildings looked the same. The woods were just an area in the middle of Southie.

One thing i was wondering. When all the construction is complete, are there any plans to change the name of this area? Or will it stay as is ?

The valley will retain the name of South Nitshill Jock but developers always try and change the name of areas to try and reflect the image they want to create. I think the most southern part where there are houses now is known as Park Meadow.

Don't know at present if they have another name for other parts but it was being referred to as Wardhill for a period.

Just noticed that the photos above are from different Galas. Photos 3,4 & 5 are from the same year 1992 but the others appear to be from earlier.
