By the Cut of Junction between Port Dundas and the Monkland Canal, looking east to Garngadhill and Townhead Parish Church. The Glasgow Garnkirk and Coatbridge railway brought coal to the city, and this spur served a coal depot on Pinkston Rd. The St Rollox Sawmill, which faced on to Baird St, is on the other bank. The M8 runs here now.
Hi Streapadair..Marvellous photo,s in the West and North Section , although I was born around the Keppochhill Rd area I cant for the love of me remember a bridge over the canal there , as marked on Page 10 plan posted at 10.48 p.m. on Aug 31-2009 ,could it possibly be Springburn Rd at Castle St , I could be wrong..Cheers Flim

Hi James73.. Although I have a map of 1913 which still shows as Pinkston Road,I am in complete agreement with you in saying it should read Pinkston Road unless the map Streapadair posted was before 1913 ,and it is actually Glebe St Canal Bridge before entering St Rollox Basin then onto Castle St.. Thanks Norrie and Alex Glas for the welcome to the board..Cheers Flim
I shall add some worthy note to the discussion, if nobody minds me doing so
Having a look at a map from 1892-1894, this was in fact Keppochhil Road, it wasn't named Pinkston Road till sometime in the 1900's probably when Glasgow Corporation went re-naming streets after adding Partick and Govan to the city
Keppochhill Road as it is now was New Keppochhill Road at the time and the map shows very little housing, fields, Cowlairs House, Flemington House which is now the remains of Flemington Street and Saracen Street was very much rural as well
