There were 3 brothers who practised medicine in Rutherglen and Bridgeton, Dr James, Dr Desmond and Dr Hugh Quigley. The practice was reduced to two when Dr Desmond went off to the serve in WW2. On his return he continued to practice locally up to his death in 1960. The Dr Jim Quigley who practised in Bridgeton / Rutherglen up till early 1990s was Dr Dersmond Quigley's son.

As regards the Bankhead estate it was owned by the Drs Quigley and hence was also known locally as Quigley's estate and hence this is the name the subsequent housing development on the land was given
