Fascinating pictures Norrie.
We stayed in Midton Street until around 1977 on the section where the little fire station currently sits. We were the subject of a CPO relating to upcoming road construction. I've always assumed this was to do with the dual carriageway section of springburn road. A little bit of midton street with tenements remains though so never been sure why one half went but the other stayed.

Sorry if there's a better thread for this, perhaps moderators can move if so but last week, the 'Lost Glasgow' Facebook page were given permission to post nearly 40 photos of Springburn taken in 1983.  Some crackers in there for past/presents.

Hi Norrie thats actually Carleston st. the building on the top left of the photo is the back of Hillkirk church. Not the top left sorry .The top left looks like the maisonettes that were built where the railway blocks were. The church is the building with the sloped roof and chimney
