These photos are a small part of a considerable archive of activities in and around Nitshill circa 1976 to 1990.
Most are of social events held within the area, and represent a part of a vibrant community life, that many would have you believe never existed.
This archive contains people involved in Domino, Dart, Pool competitions, most run as charity fundraisers, there is also a considerable archive taken within many of the active social events within the pubs and clubs of Nitshill....

Most will eventually be available soon at

Drew I have been given access to a similar archive but it is for the South Nitshill Gala between 1988 till about 1994.

Any one wishing to see the growing collection of photos from the South Nitshill Gala should click on this link to my photobucket account

South Nitshill Gala photos available on Photobucket

The last photo is especially for Stacey Welsh

Hello Alex....
originally wanted to isolate archive so as not to block-fill the existing forum on UGW, but admin has put into general section, so will be impracticle to add 100's of photos and ruin what is a good cross-dialogue forum section.
Will have to think again about format, as I have 1000's from the 1970's and some archive material from as far back as the 30's, even some glass plate images currently being looked at professionally.
Likely to try to open up as much as possible in the Greater Pollok Heritage Site, as they seem to have as much space as I would need....you can keep up to date in Photobucket where current artwork/designs and photos are also stored for access....see you...!

Drew maybe they should be given a section within the Urban Glasgow Collection.

Maybe James and the Mods could have a think about that and give it a discussion section as well. Given that the Nitshill Thread has now gone into its third series I would hope that your collection plus the photos I have access to could make an interesting addition to the Urban Glasgow Collection.

What do you think?

Ok, it's been merged to this thread but we can split the posts into a seperate
thread. Let us know if you want to do this.

Thanks...
My intention is to publish photos containing well-known faces and characters
from in and around the Nitshill area.
Eventually when others add materials, it may be possible to form specific archives within this subject, for example Sports Events, Dances and Prizegivings , and special events.
Many of these will contain photos and information never seen before and relevent to relatives and friends.
Between subscribers and Alex Glass for example, we could achieve accurate records of the local communities, and have them archived for reference within sites like UGW, rather than Council archives who tend to lose lots of stuff.
Anyway, thanks to all for opening up this thread for all to use....
