Hi fastnet, thats great that some of the features have been retained, I hope to pop in and take some shots after it's opened
It was begining to look really run down, now it will be a shining light in Cambuslang

Cambuslang's former cinema The Savoy/Vogue has been converted to a Wotherspoons pub, The John Fairweather
I think they have made a good job of the convertion, many of the original cinema features have been retained

Main st, 1st February 2015

Thanks for these pics, norrie. The place looks pretty damned good, I have to say.

I was never inside when I was growing up in Cambuslang, but even as I kid I despaired at the state of the exterior.

Am I wrong in thinking there used to be a bar inside called The Chandelier?

Hi Invisible Lion, I was never in the cinema but perhaps when it was a bingo hall it had a bar

brilliant Norrie.love them or hate them wetherspoons have the funds to carry out such refurbishments.a bit of a trek for me but I will pay it a visit soon as I love old cinemas and art deco.what were the customers on the balcony watching?when the salon in hillhead was turned into a restaurant they used to have buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd on the screen.
