Great photos Stu and Lowlight

I was last in the old Shettleston Cemetery about two years ago but it is just across the road from where I work. Let me know the next time you are in the area and we can meet up.

It is an interesting we cemetery. Just a shame that it isn't in better condition.

I've been in graveyards again... this time it was the Southern Necropolis which is in a terrible state. Although the council have made improvements by marking significant grave stones and producing a guide book.

The blood appears to be real on this angel

Thanks Alex. It was just a spur of the moment thing that me and my Ma were wanted to do for ages. It is in some state though. Wouldn't fancy a visit in the summer when all the dogshit has melted.

Stu>> Nice shots. You can almost see my work. I'm gonnae have to go for a wee walk through it one day after work.

Loss of a loved one is always a sad occasion but pride in taking care of their last resting place has always been a Scots tradition !

I look at the the wonderful pictures above and worry.

The picture of the angel with seemingly real blood on it is a great worry !  Under that stone lies a person who was absolutely loved by his/her family but someone/some people have seen it necessary to express their sick opinions upon it.

I don't care whether they are misguided kids or sick teens, they have no right to desecrate the graves of people whose families have seen right to commemorate their family members' passing by vandalising them !

Sadly, it happens on our side of the world too, and on a regular basis !

Tombro

PS ... Despite emigrating to Australia with my family nearly fifty years ago, I am still a proud Scot and I find this desecration hideous !

I had a bit of time due to something else finishing earlier than I had expected so it was a bit of a last minute thing Stu. I hope to go to the Necropolis again soon so will let you know and we can meet up
