I've been looking for a thread for his but can't seem to find one. I've been meaning for ages to go through my mums photos and try and find some but... I still haven't done it! However, Real Radio posted this on their facebook page a few days ago and it reminded me I will need to get round to it sooner or later!

I had actually googled the Garden Festival as I was writing the post and found your set on flickr, I wondered if you were a member on here :)

There was a video of the Garden Festival on sale (I think it was ebay) was going to buy it but it was going for silly money.

I should have made some enquiries in the Council about it before I left.

Great photos BTJ

I worked at the Garden Festival for the six month run.. best job Ive ever had.. loved it.. every day was exciting and early in the morning on my way down to the creche, it was one celeb after another doing reports on the festival... old trams. the wee train, boats flying up and down the Clyde.. helicopters.. and I even met Maggie Thatcher...   saw Royalty too... what a time that was....only downside was the accident with fireworks on the last night .

1) General View of the "Main Street"

2) Another view of the "Glasgow University" framework

3) The "Vital Spark" in the Harbour

4) The minature train crossing the bridge at the entrance to the harbour.  The railway station to the left of the bridge is now at Birkhill on the Bo'ness Steam Railway.

7) Another view showing the Trams

8 ) Close up of Tram

Excellent set Alycidon!

The city could well use a similar festival, perhaps out at Dalmarnock around the time of the Commonwealth Games?
