For some reason I had to log on to reply to streapadairs  post

I have noticed some of my shots have vanished a few times over the years  but the photos  reappeared

$399 a year, now I am worried, I think I am up to $79?, I still load the photos in KBs rather than MBs
Any problems with Photobucket have been resolved but now I am beginning to regret using them
2010 I started using them, too much work to start all over again, I hope streapadairs missing posts reappear

Hi Norrie, there seem to be 3 levels of payment - $60, $100, & $400 p.a., and only the last will allow 3rd party hosting.

I've just got the free a/c, and once I've checked there's nothing irreplaceable there I'll scrub it.

Any mods around?

Hi Streapadair there is no way am I am going to pay anymore than I am already doing, I will delete stuff from my account if that helps but not my Glasgow stuff.
I upgraded in February 2017 $49-99 and that gives me more storage and as I am now posting in KBs it will be a while before I need another upgrade,I don't want to walk away from PB but if I do will as around for whats a better system

What is 3rd party hosting, never heard of that

Hope you manage to get your shots back on line

It's a nightmare. They upped their charges (but not their storage) with me in 2014 and I just got shot of Photobucket - had all my files backed up on the PC. Shame, really.

Norrie, 3rd party hosting is what UG and a few million other sites containg photos from their users do. You and Pb are parties 1 & 2, UG the 3rd. It does offload the bandwidth costs on to Pb / Flickr / etc. and I think this is why Pb are getting antsy about it.

I see the Andrew Charles Paul collection has gone, which is a pity.

Hi streapadair, get it now
Whats the point of having sites like Photobucket if they don't want you to use it to post shots onto web pages , I can post my shots for free on FB, not that I want to, I don't need it for storage or back up, my photos are not for public viewing on Photobucket, I use it because its the only way most web pages can accept photos. I know Proboards had a system where you could load direct but there was a limit that the board had and eventually even after deleting loads of shots it never worked again
My shots are backed up on hard drives, internal and external,Memory Sticks and DVDs
As of now, Photobucket have not said a dicky to me, apart from saying I have used 86% of my storage

It looks to me that Photophucket are now charging $399 a year for allowing photos to be 3rd-party hosted. Is this right?

2 of my 'Glw in the 70s' offerings seem to be with them - Townhead and The River (the rest are with SmugMug) so they're looking rather empty at the moment. If a mod could unlock them for a day or 2 I can get them repopulated from SM.

I think quite a few other threads could be a bit, well, threadbare.

Done.

Thanks, James. I've made a start on Townhead, and I'll let you know when you can turn the key on it, but not yet.

Bleedin nightmare indeed.

Ok, James, I think that's the 2 threads fixed.

Photophucket were absolute swine to do this without giving any notice, none that I saw anyway - surely nothing easier than to email all their users about it.
