Photobucket

It seems Photobucket have recently moved the goalposts for free user
accounts, claiming that users are exceeding 10Gb of bandwidth per month.

This has lead to a lot of photos on here, including loads of my own, being
replaced with the "Look whos Popular!" Photobucket image instead of the
actual pictures.

I know for a fact I'm not using 10Gb of bandwidth a month, but Photobucket
have stopped giving free users access to detailed bandwidth statistics, so you
cant logon to your account and remove pictures that are the most popular.

All of this is an attempt to get money from people as paid accounts have unlimited
bandwidth. I wouldnt urge anyone to pay for this as there are many other picture
hosting sites that do not restrict bandwidth.

I'll be giving http://imgur.com/ a go from now on.

Are you having a giraffe? I've had nothing but hassle with Photobucket since I signed up and I'm almost at the end of my tether with them.

I tried Flickr (opening a new account soon), TinyPic and Deviant Art and found Flickr to be the lesser of the evils. What I tend to do now is upload photos via Facebook and just copy the image urls from there. So far no issues, other than the reduced quality of the originals.

Facebook move the goalposts by giving the photos new URL's to stop that very thing every now and again.

I have received multiple messages from Photobucket claimong the same but as far as I can see I am not exceeding the bandwidth.

I was contemplating opening a new account using a different email address. I already have three other Photobucket accounts.

Maybe I will take James' advice and go to another host provider.

Any suggestions would be welcome

I have been paying for an account for several years, got all my Glasgow stuff plus hill walking, holidays etc all loaded on to Photobucket, cant walk away from it,I dont fancy starting all over

Photobucket has been working a lot better for me, still the odd blip right enough but I just curse at the screen
I have been told I am at 70odd %, funny, I used to have unlimited storage
My friend tried using another email address didn't work, could his IP address have given him away?

You got that right...

BTW, I just paid Photobucket $2.99 for a months subscription, ensuring my
images keep appearing on here. However, I've discovered that they STILL
dont give you detalied bandwidth statistics, even once you've paid! I sent a
message to their support staff asking for detailed stats. He twice tried to fob
me off saying the stats were gathered by a "third party". I then formally requested
a copy of stats relating to my account AND some detailed info on this "third party".

He never replied to this request.

It's a clear con, set up to get money out of people. Nothing more.

I mainly paid to trace my own pics on here in order to upload them to another
host, which I will do. Once that's done Photobucket can go take a running fcuk
to itself, as far as I'm concerned.

BTW, TinyPic is owned by Photobucket...
