That does seem strange Alex ... are they inflating the numbers themselves though making the folder private should solve the problem it will also catch them out if they are lying.

The notice posed does say "Lood whos' popular" which does indicate that the bandwidth is associated to number of views a photo receives.

I will wait until the bandwidth has been restored to see if it does restore the link and them will change the settings on my account.

Hopefully there isn't a clean up by the mods to remove my broken links.

The views on Flickr, Photobucket etc only count when a registered user visits the page on their site.

The bandwidth that Photobucket monitor comes from thread views and page views on other sites etc. as well and is difficult to estimate without access to the server logs or writing a script to count number of times a photo is requested

My entire Photobucket account (never mind individual folders) is marked private.
It always has been, from the minute I joined. That means the only way to see my
images is if I link them to a forum. The only forum I link them to is Urban Glasgow.

Obviously, people can Google images and then link them to their own website or
forum. The 'old' photobucket used to let you see the most popular images and where
they were appearing - meaning you could delete it, move it or rename it, breaking
the link to the rouge forum/website. Now, Photobucket DONT let us see this info.

That fact that they are not giving us detailed bandwidth stats is, as I've said already,
naked racketeering.

My account bandwidth has been restarted so I will see how long it takes to roun out again.

I won't be posting any more photos from that account and will have to start a new account somewhere.

More than a week after asking for detailed stats, I finally got a text based
reply from Photobucket. The vast majority of my pics are viewed on this
forum and have 40-60 views each. There's only one image that has more
than 100 views on it and given the list of stats I still refuse to believe it is
causing my account to exceed 10Gb a month. I'll still be moving the majority
of my images away from Photobucket.

I've just got a message about bandwidth from photofuckit and the suggestion that I upgrade.
Anyone tried any of the lesser known hosting sites?

I'm in the process of moving my images to http://imgur.com/ as it has unlimited
bandwidth. Best to create many folders on Imgur though as, apparently, once you
upload a certain amount of pics the earliest ones dont appear when you log-in! They
still show up on posted sites though.
