That would be the Cavendish Pub Tob

The only pub now in this part of Nitshill and one of two on Nitshill Road. At one time there were five pubs on Nitshill Road.

The Royal Oak
The Cavendish
The Levern Hotel
The Nia Roo
The Trade Winds

What building was the fire engine outside neil?

That's the Cavendish, tobester; the only pub left in Nitshill village, out of the six there used to be.

Alex, the other shops may now be visible, but the fact is there are now three gap sites within 50 metres of each other; it's like Nitshill has no focal point, and the fact is those sites once housed a garage, a hotel, and a once-impressive inn.

I'm away for a pint!

edit: you beat me to it Alex, though I wasn't including the Nia Roo or the Trade Winds; add the Volunteer Arms, the Railway Inn and the Househill Tavern.

Don't dispare Neil

Soon you will see some action to regenerate Nitshill. First should be the Jackie Connor's site. There is a Planning Application currently being considered that will cover that site with houses and a couple of shop units on the Nitshill Road.

The Levern - a hotel  - Neil I know it was used for bed and breakfast for the homeless - but a hotel -  that is still stretching the imagination a bit.

It takes time to make the type of changes that are hopefully for the better of Nitshill Village. There is a critical mass being created and you hopefully will see improvements soon.

Look forward to the changes, Alex; and the Levern was built as a Hotel!

Tobester, come to Nitshill when the above-mentioned improvements have taken place!

Now, I really need that pint....

Hopefully now that the Levern has been demolished this wont be the end of this thread. Once the site is cleared and the fence removed I will post up more photos.

There are talks with a developer ongoing at the moment and when I get an idea of what is planned for this part I will post up the details.

Check out Nitshill and Surrounding Area if you want to see more of the area.

Ahh spent many a weekend and £ in the Levvy..Believe it or not it was a bloody good pub in it's time with very little trouble.Charlie was great guy
and saved us a few bob giving us a carry out as long as we replaced it the next day,a bit of a difference between Tesco and pub prices
The south light got a quite  a bit of my business as well and i still to this day go there even though there's closer takeaways to my house.

I remember when the Royal Oak burned down. Actually, that's a lie. I went away on holiday for a week and when I came back there had been a shooting and the pub had been razed to the ground. I miss all the excitement. So I do.
