I just noticed the telephone box inside the station. I was just talking about this telephone box with one of my brothers. When he left Glasgow to live in Manchester in the mid 60's I often went to the telephone here with my mother when she made her weekly telehone call to my brothers in Manchester.

On the aerail photo showing the front entrance to the station you can just see the corner of Airdrie Street and Port Dundas Road. This is where I lived. On Fjord's map the close entrance would have been about where the last 'd' is at Port Dundas Road written on the map.

This is me standing outside the entrance to the station circa 1965

This? Aye. Looks like it's just a vent. How disappointing. Still like to have a look
inside, though...

The path of the tunnel

From c.1970, the tunnel air vent is visible on the upper left.

Now, the air vent is gone and a series of stones laid out in its place.

The stones are astronomically aligned to major solar events like the summer and winter solstices.
