My dad worked all his days in the railway and I fell heir to his old 'football special' posters.
We were both Clyde fans and he got this particular one when he was fairly young probably in the late 50's.
Shows timetables for trains from the Perth and the now demolished Dundee (West) terminating in Buchanan Street station.

Great poster!!  Seems odd today that you would run a special from Dundee to watch a Motherwell vs Clyde match

Alycidon, it was the 1939 Scottish Cup final although that's not obvious.
Is also good for a daft trivia question i.e. what team 'held' the Scottish Cup for 6 years in a row... (held being the operative word rather than 'won')

I find myself with spare time on my hands over the next couple of weeks. Is it possible to access the section of platform that remains? Would love to grab a photo if possible and maybe even stand on if possible. Anyone able to advise me? Thanks.

*EDIT*
Sorry, had another read of the thread.

Buchanan Street tunnel to be "infilled". See Page 8, Section 4.2.

Is there room to do the work from the accessible portal or will the other portal have to be excavated and could we finally discover the location of the hidden portal?

I'm assuming the debris from the demolition is going in the tunnels? If so, it would surely make sense transport & environmentally wise to open up the buried portal would it not?

The Northern Portal seems to have been replaced with a rather unspectacular blockwork head wall and demolished with the opening buried beneath the slope rising from the small car park at pinkston rd - The road at this point was built over a bridge over the rail line - parts of the bridge remain buried beneath the ground.

There was a manhole and shaft on the slope constructed down to the track bed level - but is very dangerous and is covered with a concrete plug

The tunnel will be filled with grout from the surface - the southern portal will remain intact as will the tunnel under the motorway at present - at least that is the current plan

Thanks horse. Why the sudden desire to partially fill the tunnel do you know?
