If you check out the Glasgow City Council Planning Portal and search Sighthill TRA you will see the Masterplan application to transform Sighthill - The council own the tunnel and want new homes to be built over the top so infilling is best for managing the ground risks and maintenance risk - the south portal will remain and the section under the M8 to allow future service to pass under the M8
Hence all the demolition and ground improvement works started on Sighthill now
It has been surveyed, recorded and imaged quite a lot which will no doubt appear in the public domain eventually
I have a particular interest in Pinkston Burn & stinky Ocean and any eye witnesses to the construction of the tower blocks in the late 60's etc
James wrote "Scotrail House (later Railtrack House) is to the left of the University buildings and is wrongly quoted as having been built on the site of the Railway Station. This is not true, as pictures available in many books
THIS IS INCORRECT. It was not built on the passenger station but was built on railway yards. This can be verified from the picture posted showing the Station Bar. Directly across the road are the old railway yards and sheds.
When the British Transport Police building was being constructed old elements of a platform from the station as well as Cast Iron bases for the station canopies were unearthed as well as a remnant of the masonry entrance to the old passenger station.
