Looks like it was taken FROM the Cathedral St bridge Davie ... at what would have been the corner of Dundas St ... from near the metal gate on the left hand side somewhere

You are correct with the answer as to where was the picture taken from, just to the right of the gate, the original was taken in September 1974.

A lot of street names were changed circa 1922 as there were duplicates in the city due to its expansion in late Victorian/Edwardian times

Hi Marblez, your on the wrong corner, Newcastle Brewers stood  where North Gate, passport office
Good shot right enough, it was long gone before I ventured up to that area, I should have gone sooner, that the first shot I have seen of it
