Interesting development with the vessel "TS Queen Mary" in October the ownership of the vessel passed to the charity that is looking to bring it back to the Clyde in 2016. Their CGI cover photo on facebook suggests that they are looking to berth it South of the Finneston crane beside the squint bridge.

Could be a use for one of the Govan Graving docks if they could house it out of water in one of them. Then maybe look for another couple old Clyde built ships to put into the other two docks as permanent tourist attractions, a bit like the cutty sark is.

I have posted this video elsewhere but I think it fits in here.

I edited it together a few years ago from my Dads cinefilm footage shot on the Queen Mary 2 around 1964.

Nice video BTJustice, wonder if that could be the Queen Mary at 4min 24 secs in your video, don't think its her, but I'm not sure.

Yeah its great news they have received the funding needed to tow her back to the Clyde.

Not sure that they are doing with her, but I still think it would be a great idea to put her into on of the Govan Graving dry docks.

Ships last much longer and are easier to maintain if they are out of the salt water.

The images below give an idea of what could be done:

The film is shot from the deck of the Queen Mary 2. There is a shot of the life belt at 5 min 23 secs.

She left Tilbury today and is being towed by the tug Venture.

Can follow her progress on marine traffic website.

Well hopefully it is going no where near the Scottish Maritime Museum or it will end up at Dalton's for scrap.

Queen Mary is expected on the Clyde Sunday afternoon.  The Friends of Queen Mary are hoping to charter "Clyde Clipper" for a cruise to meet her, provisionally leaving Greenock at 11:30.

The cruise can only go ahead if at least 100 bookings are received by 17:00 TODAY (13/05/2016).

I believe it's going to be situated in Greenock for the refurbishment in a dry dock but not sure where it's going afterwards.

So pleased that this steamer is being restored. It was the first Clyde Steamer I traveled on from Glasgow to Rothesay in 1961.After that I did trips on all the steamers. So sad they were scrapped,I think they would make a fortune today.
