Good to see it saved and made accessible for everyone to enjoy if somewhat largely sterilised and illuminated. Of course it's too late now to see it as it was at it's best in it's natural state of decay slowly being reclaimed by nature and adorned by some of the finest graffiti. That's what made a visit/s appealing in the first place.

However, I just had a thought that if it wasn't for the Hidden Glasgow website bringing it to public attention way back in 2003 with it's gallery of photo's and a forum thread ( that's the first I heard of the place) The media/ architects etc. soon caught on many months/ years later and articles began to appear.

I personally doubt it would have became so well known and provoked the thoughts of many that the place still had a value albeit a unique one. Unless you lived locally or had been involved with St Peters it would have been off the radar to all but a few.

I've tried finding the earliest  reports either web or media related regarding exploration or visiting it as a ruin and it always comes back to Hidden Glasgow being the first. Historical academic archives aside.

So credit given where it's due, Hidden Glasgow in my book has played a major unacknowledged part in raising awareness thus helping preserve what we have today.

I'd be interested in finding out how others discovered the place for the first time or are you like me and a bit gutted that it got found out and ruined in a way you didn't quite imagine. (that's ruined with a small r BTW)

doffs hat to HG

I'm a bit of a late comer to this mate but I found out about St. Peter's on here.

I think it was cybers or stu's pics I first saw.

Nothing against HG.

I still am a member there but don't frequent it now for reasons I don't really know...

I was unlucky enough to have known about the seminary without the aid of the internet. It was on the radar of John Wheatley College Photographic Dept for years before HG ever visited it and was a staple for photojournalism in the bad old days of analogue mediums. If anything HG could actually be blamed for the demise of one of Scotland's premier modern day art galleries and ruin but at the same time it will now be preserved going forward as a money spinner for some arsehole who is really not interested in the building or the "Steet Art" it housed.

Graffiti artists are no doubt pissed at the loss of a space they could freely decorate without too much fear of prosecution too.

Some of the best pieces I have ever seen adorned that back wall especially HULK
