In this view from the Urban Glasgow Collection, public toilets can be clearly seen at the rear of the tower:


I noticed for the first time to-day that before the Tolbooth was demolished, the tower had a thoroughfare, much like the one at the Tron:

I don't mind replying here HH, it was just from that Glasgow Corporation report on moving the Tolbooth Steeple. I posted more stuff from it on 'the other place'
