This was the first building I worked on that Scary and his mates    got their hands on !

I worked on the founds, basement etc in 1986 and by 2001ish it was history to be replaced with what's shown in Alex' photo. My mate's dad worked at the Herald and was kind enough to give me this commemorative plate which they issued to all the employees.

talking of the pub, the work we had to do to hold it up while we built the basement was a f*cking nightmare. We had a shutter failure at the back of it one night - one of the scariest moments of my life. On the other hand it was handy having a pub 5 paces from the office - times haven't half changed in the construction business. . .
