I took this photo back in February 1992. The other shots on the film are mostly city centre and over the river to the sheriff court.

The shot before is at the open car park behind St. Enochs and the shot after is of the lights at the sheriff court.

Any ideas?

When I saw that photo on your Flickr I had the same thought.

I thought it looked like the rear of Granite House on Stockwell Street which would make the street at the top Argyle Street

That's exactly where it is.    Though the street at top is Trongate - it only
becomes Argyle Street west of Stockwell St.

Impossible to get the same view now.

It's Osbourne street looking at the back of the Trongate. Thats C&A to the right (now TJ Hughes) with the piss smelling Old Wynd. The building to the left is a council building I think and they are currently building something on that ground in the part which isnt a car park

Have a look at this pano from last year and its just to the right of the centre http://www.flickr.com/photos/stuballscramble/2789933065/

Thanks guys. I wondered if it might be looking towards Trongate but couldn't imagine where it would be.

It just goes to show how much the city can change.

I am having a bit of a scanning frenzy at the moment so expect lots more daft questions.

Cheers.

I forgot to say.

I think it mat be possible to get some photos in the car park which is accessible through Granite House. I took some photos from the roof a couple of years back I will need to look them out to see if I took any down to the rear.

Here is another one. It is part of a set of a walk along the clyde towards the old Garden Festival site. I had thought it was one of the streets around James Watt Street.
