Paisley is to host the Monte Carlo Classic Car Rally.
Renfrewshire has pulled off a major coup as it gets set to host one of transport's most iconic and world-renowned events, the Monte Carlo Classic Car Rally.
Up to 100 cars dating back to the 1920's will assemble in Paisley town centre before setting off for the glitz and glamour of the French Riviera.
The event - on the evening of 23rd. January 2014 - will see Paisley as one of five departure points, alongside Barcelona, Stockholm, Oslo and Reims.

Anyone interested in getting some photos should note that the cars will leave Abbey Close at one minute intervals starting at 6pm. They will travel via Bridge St., Lonend, Barrhead Rd., The Hurlet, Darnley and head south on the M77 to Kilmarnock then by the A76 south.

Went along yesterday, but unfortunately couldnt repeat last years trip all the way to Monte Carlo.
Had to make do with one of the Heritage runs down to Auldgirth, near Dumfries.
Smashing day and it was good to see the crowds that turned out,not only in Paisley but also all the way down the A76 to Auldgirth.

The legend Paddy Hopkirk who won the Monte Carlo Rally 50 years ago ina Mini was flagging the cars off
