A 1971 photo of the bridge with an northbound engineers train with breakdown crane. Taken from the redundant ferry slipway being used for sailing dinghy storage.

Meanwhile a few miles westwards up the River Forth in January 1970 the magnificent Alloa Swing Railway Bridge was in the process of being demolished when the above photo was taken.
Built by the Caledonian Railway and opened on the 1st of October 1885. These views were taken at Throsk on the southside of the river which had a small station.
It finally closed to passengers in January 1968 until full closure in May 1968 the line remained in situ until may 1970 when work began lifting the track and subsequent bridge demolition in 1971.
The stone columns are all that remain today.

Throsk Signal box after line closure the branch to the left served the Admiralty sidings at Bandeath
