Link seen on fm4.at today:
http://12seconds.tv/
And a sarcy comment on the same site, of course. Although it could be fun as well, if used for personal messages. Just so dull for others.
"Video Comments
just don't make any sense to me. It takes too long to see them, you can't scan them to see if they are worth hearing, and a talking head doesn't add any real value to whatever most people are trying to say.
Yeah, I'm a Hater.
I firmly believe in choosing the right medium for the message. Audio has it's place, as do text and video. Even flash can be okay if used properly.
And I don't think video is the right tool for short messages. Basically, if you are going to make a talking head video, the chances are great that audio would have sufficed. Because seeing what you might have had for lunch probably wont add any value to what you have to say. Of course, if you are the type who can't string two sentences together without an umm or an errr, well, then you probably don't need audio either.
Text can be a wonderful thing.
Which is why I don't quite get the idea behind 12seconds.TV.
I can agree that 13 seconds is probably too long for what most people have to say. I don't agree that video is the right way for most of them to say it. I guess it's supposed to be like twitter for video. Excpet that it takes at least 12 seconds to check each message, and it's more difficult to actually follow the flow of comments since Video is inherently linear.
If the site was filled with bucket loads of short and sweet animations, or clever little visual jokes, I could probably get behind it. Right now it's mostly a bunch of folks spending 12 seconds saying something they could have said in three." _________________ Yes, we have no bananas, we have no bananas today. |
