The entrance to the Southern Necropolis is marked by a sandstone archway. Built in 1948 and designed by architect Charles Wilson. In recent years it has been secured after the oriel collapsed and it was made wind and water tight. The internal stairs have been removed and the doors locked and secured. It's an elaborate pigeon house now.

Brilliant Stu. Pass it everyday. I'll take a wee walk in there one day soon.

My My Stu you have upped the anti in Urban Exploration

Great photos as usual.

There was a plan some years ago to convert it into a visitors center with a strong link to Family History. Unfortunately they didn't manage to secure the money.

There is a website Southern Necropolis Research

Never had that problem at the Edinburgh branch though it is a lot bigger than the Glasgow one.
Though they did need to send to Newcastle for my lowepro bag
