Hi,new poster here!,great site by the way
i'm a glasgow hack driver, and i was taking this old boy up to stobhill hosp.On the way he was telling me that there used to be a railway station at stobhill, and all the casualties in the world war II were taken to the station then into the hospital, keeping them away from prying eyes,so the war recruitment wouldn't be affected by the horrific site of mangled bodies!
I had no idea there was a station there and was wondering if there was any pics of it around?

Have a look at the virtual mitchell as they have some pictures of the station in use. There is also an aerial photograph somewhere which clearly shows the direction of the cutting the branch line takes infront of the nurses houses and curves under the water tower. I believe there is a gap in the ground with plant machinery below ground level at the base of the tower _________________ Now coming at you with 95% more significance, 1% less salt and virtually fat free!
There is a line the curves around the outside of the hospital grounds... just look for the tree line. Comes in on the upper left and you can just about make out the branch that goes into the station _________________ Now coming at you with 95% more significance, 1% less salt and virtually fat free!

Never heard of this myself but am alaways amazed at how many people bypass these daily and it takes one curious question to reveal all.

I cant take credit for finding that aerial shot... but there is another one showing the cutting a bit better.
I find that some peoples eyes need a little training before they can see former railway cuttings from maps and aerial shots
