A full month of events run by GARA (Glasgow Anti Racist Alliance) - sounds a bit militant, but they are actually all-right people. Some particular events on Glasgow include:

But TBH i will be giving it a miss.
The mere fact a group has to put Anti-Racist in their title for me is a forewarning.
Whilst racism should not be tolerated in any shape or form i know of blind eyes that have been turned not only by Strathclyde Police but various so called help groups as it is too much of a humiliation to admit that racism is not just perpetrated white on whoever but all races and creed are just as guilty as each other.
From a personal point of view all true racism really stems from religion and the mixed up views it instill in our children.
If there is one truth religion preaches it is that money is the root of all evil.
That is why they put out their hands in churches mosques chapels.
Religion is a business and Anti-anti racist movements are somewhere for the unemployable to hang out.
I have been accused of racism and had one of these do good nutters in my house with the police because I had lost the rag with an unruly neighbour who decided it was a good idea to give my 5 year old son a can of lager.
When i remonstrated this was not his finest move he attacked me both racially and physically and i retalliated not with words but with good old marquis of queensberry rules and knocked 7 bells out of him.
I was never charged with the assault as their were too many witnesses in the street who seen him attack me first.
I was however charged with racial abuse which i had never did nor never will do,
Summoned to Linlithgow sherrif for a pleading diet where i pled not guilty and it took almost a year and 30 asian character witnesses before the charges were eventually dropped.
and truth be told i would do the same thing again when it comes to protecting my family.
Sorry if this seems like a bit of a rant but the feelings that i still carry over this incident still has the power to get me incredibly angry.

Oooof, great post there . great points about religion too..money money money. I read an excellent book recommended by Scary himself, it was good to read my own thoughts on religion and social inequality, put so well in print.
Yes... well anyway, whatever all that was to do with... I just thought that I'd let folks know about what seemed like an interesting number of perspectives on some aspects of Glasgow's real history. Maybe I should have second thoughts before doing that here again _________________ Well I am.
I tend to agree with that...whats worse .. no feedback or critical feedback... if racist or racism is mentioned folk tend to be on the back pedal as sometimes you can`t say right for saying wrong,
The sooner anti racism is scrubbed the better and we of all colours and creeds can get on with our lives _________________ I was in a Tunnel on another forum and I came out here. fcuk, who shut the door !

Don't have second thoughts about posting you made a very valid point in your original post.
Forums survive because of opinions and the freedom to express them i am just fed up to the back teeth of tweedy folk trying to do good by trying to criminalise the rest of society.
I was subjected to abuse because of what it was alleged i had done now when the can carriers wave them in the name of racism they can poke their views right up thier arse.
as for what it was about it was explained pretty well what it was all about.
Perhaps they are going to wheel out the old oh glasgow was a city of slave traders who imported it's needs blah blah blah...
Controversial as it might sound but slavery is still alive and well in Glasgow watch UK BorderForce any night of the week on Sky only difference is it is now imported labour and forced to work in appalling conditions by there own race and creed.
I make no apologies for my views as my clouded judgement was removed when i was arrested....
