Thanks scary
The thing about the quality is that there might be someone interested in seeing the detail.
Its the first time I have tried to scan these sort of negatives on this scanner that I got in the summer. I hope to improve the quality as I get to know the settings and the software better.
Still good pics of a railway scene rarely photographed,Hillmanimp.
The interesting thing is that class of locomotive would be all but extinct in 3 years of the photo, bar one that managed to be preserved after 12 years in industrial use. _________________ See me? I'm daft, but it not ma fault!

Hi doog
Thanks for the info about the locomotive. I am not that interested in them, but I know someone who is (Imp junior!). He is now away from home and hasn't seen this yet. However, when he or his friends are interested in something they want all the details, hence my comments about the quality.
In those days the high visibility "clothing" consisted of an orange waistcoat thingy that they wore over their working clothes. Almost to a man the workmen refused to wear them because they made them look like a cissy!

I managed to 'borrow' one of those from some where when I was involved in the preservation scene.
Some info for Junior: These locos were designated Class 17 but more commonly known as "Claytons" , after the company that built them.
Intoduced in 1962,they were seen as 'the' engine of that type, due to its central cab that gave better visibility over rival designs. However, their lifespan was short as the work they were designed for,pick-up freight from small yards, had disappeared and that they proved to be unreliable in service, they were withdrawn in 1971.Most of them were cut up at McWilliams yard in Shettleston. _________________ See me? Footage of the old Blue Trains - fast forward to about 4m20s. At 5m58s the narrator
incorrectly identifys a station as Springburn. Looks more like Garscadden to me.
