Next two , at the Cross looking over to Maryhill Rd.
the tramcar says maryhill normal school,as opposed to what .abnormal school.please do tell,im intrigued to know.
The school was founded by David Stow in the 1840s and was based on the French system, Ecole Normal, hence Normal School. It was a religious school and in the great Scottish tradition, split, with Stow going off in the huff to found yet another school.
There was a pub opposite the school - The Normal Bar. Nae kiddin'!
