The photo was taken at the 1990 Gala Medieval Dinner Stacey.

I remember it like it was yesterday.

The theme for the Gala during the Year of Culture was Mary Queen of Scots and Lord Darnley's connection to the area. The dinner was served without cutlery as it was intended to be eaten like it would have been during the time of Mary and Lord Darnely.

Roast Chicken was the main course.

I have still to scan more photos but it may be some time before I get round to it.

I have just came across this site and I have to congratulate everyone concerned. Fantastic memories , if a little bit sad sometimes. I did a double take when I saw the picture of John and Linda. Loved the guy! He's sorely missed. Thanks for all the memories, r.e your post "Nitshill and surrounding area." Great stuff. I look forward to reading plenty more. Thank you.

The photo of John and Linda was taken when we all went to Campbeltown for a camping holiday.
Lots more of Doc and Quinnie, and Wassel when we were away fishing.....Just trying to put another large photo archive, but 'planked' my negative scanner when the grandkids were over at Xmas....now I can't find the thing....
The biggest archives are from "Social Events' in and around Nitshill, including Pool and Domino competitions, "Al Jolson Nights", cabarets at the Levern and the Nitshill Bowling Club.
There are several albums of negatives taken at 'Gala Days', and 'Summer Playschemes'............
So, if you recognize the John & Linda photo, you will love the rest....keep checking the site......DREW

Thanks for that Drew. I look forward to seeing some more of your great photos. I went on a few fishing trips with Doc and Wassel. The best ones were usually when we went to Colintraive. As you know, the boys knew how to have a good time! Is the Quinnie you mention wee Wullie? Another of my late, great pals. All the best, Kenny.

I was at one and I caught what would have been the Scottish record for a ballan  wrasse. My brother was going to take photos of the fish the next day and send them in to the Daily Record's "fish of the week" but, unfortunately for us, Wassel was feeling a bit peckish during the night and made a meal of the fish! The next morning he wasn't too happy! He said that it was stinking and it upset his stomach somewhat. I don't even know if wrasse are edible or not! Happy days indeed. Kenny.
