I was born in Robroyston Hospital in December 1969, but know virtually nothing of the hospital, its history, what it looked like etc Only way I can actually place it is using Google Earth and an old 1950s OS map.

Anyone got any more pics, information etc

Stevie

My Grandfather died there from TB. Apparently around the 40's and 50's it had a special unit for infectious diseases. My mum wasnt even allowed to visit her father because of the threat of TB.

I was born in that hospital as well. My grandfather was in there for months and months with TB (spooky coincidence) but thankfully recovered. The place was effectively two hospitals. One part was the maternity unit the other the infectious diseases especially TB and shockingly the last Smallpox hospital. In those days the area was effectively open country side about a mile away from the big housing estates in case there was an accidental release of any viral infections. The part where they treated smallpox was closed in the late 60s and was said to be so contaminated it would need to be quarantined for at least 100 years. The infectious diseases unit was moved to Ruchill Hospital which closed a few years ago.
There was a lot of controversy (and allegations of corruption) when a developer with lots of cash came along in the 80s and suddenly it was no longer a contaminated and a new estate of very smart houses were built on the grounds of the old hospital.

i stay about 30 secs from there, there's a nursing home or former convent or something along those lines still there. There's a lot of houses now built in that area that you can see on that google map.
